Introducing....
Sofia Andrea Sanchez
Born 2-21-09
Adopted 5-6-10
We are off to catch a train to Kiev and we will come back for Sofia in early June.
We will say one last goodbye to Sofia at the orphanage before we leave and this time it will be as her official MAMA and PAPA!
Thank you everyone for your prayers! God answered them!
P.S. We chose "Andrea" as Sofia's middle name in honor of my mother. We know this makes Grandma Esther smile! Happy Early Mother's Day Mom!

You don't know me. But I hope to adopt a little girl one day - my husband is still warming up to the idea. Your blog has helped answer so many questions and open my hubby's heart even more to the idea. I'm a very lucky little sister to a brother with Down syndrome - and he has changed my life and the lives of all the kids I work with through his inspiration. Thank you for sharing - I hope to have a chance to have a blog like this of my own. I am so truly happy you have your little girl and can't wait for the moment she is home. God bless.

ReplyDeleteI have posted on my blog about this organization (Reece's Rainbow) and my own desire to adopt through it. Feel free to read my post (http://jay-ramblingonandon.blogspot.com/2010/05/artem.html) and share with me your experience! (I am Canadian)
Again, congratulations. You are wonderful for doing this.
Congratulations! Have a safe trip back home!

Covered in goosebumps! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Just amazing. It sounds like if you had approval for more than one child you guys would be in trouble :)! I also see that the lesson here is not to fall in love with the "picture" you may see of a child available for adoption and fall in love with the possibility and the deeper appreciation. The picture is so often the only hope these children have and they are often not an accurate description of the reality of who they are. If you are fortunate enough to have the $$ to make it over there, sign up for approval for 2 children and then decide on the number when face with the reality of a Ukrainian orphanage.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you both and safe travels.
